Busselton resident, Mick Councillor specialises in acrylics although he not only paints, he also sculpts and screen prints. His work has been widely exhibited through Western Australia at galleries including the Dorothy Lillee Gallery in Rockingham, WA Art Gallery, Berndt Museum at the University of Western Australia and the Busselton and Margaret River Galleries. He has also had his works in the Moores Building at Fremantle, the BP Refinery at Kwinana and Town of Vincent in East Perth. Mick has a strong background in the arts, having completed an Associate Degree in Aboriginal Art at Curtin University. He has studied a lot in the area having also completed courses at Kwinana TAFE. "I have great passion for community arts projects, especially those contributing to the Aboriginal art and culture," Mick says. "I paint to keep the Aboriginal culture alive and to make people aware of the Aboriginal plight and our past. I hope to pass on my experience to school children of all cultures and the community." |
